Project scope

 

The purpose of the project is to review and update the Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Materiel Logistics; the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Deployment Logistics; and associated units to ensure the skills and knowledge requirements contained in the qualification address changes in technology and Defence processes.

 

The Industry Reference Committee (IRC) will investigate whether these qualifications can be combined to facilitate a more aligned career pathway for Defence and integrated logistics support personnel, enhancing workforce mobility across the sector.

The Transport and Logistics IRC will have oversight of this project, which will be facilitated by Australian Industry Standards (AIS) in consultation with industry stakeholders. A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) will be formed to provide subject matter expertise for the development of Training Package materials.

TAC Established

The Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee has established a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for this project.

 

Comprising 10 subject matter experts from Defence, Industry and RTOs the TAC has been tasked with:

  • Providing specialist industry subject-matter knowledge regarding changes in technology and Defence processes to the review of the Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Materiel Logistics; the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Deployment Logistics; and associated Units of Competency. The IRC will investigate whether these qualifications can be amalgamated to facilitate a more aligned career pathway for Defence and integrated logistics support personnel, enhancing workforce mobility across the sector
  • Validating the technical content of the Training Package products
  • Identifying relevant qualitative and quantitative data sources to inform the development of draft materials
  • Reviewing feedback from stakeholders through public consultations
  • Assisting in identifying and engaging broader industry networks to participate in consultation and/or validation activities during the duration of the project
  • Offering advice and guidance to assist in informing the direction of the project throughout its duration
  • Making recommendations on the developed Training Package materials to the relevant IRC, which has the final decision-making authority.

 

The first meeting of the TAC is scheduled for Tuesday, 31 August 2021.

DRAFT MATERIAL

 

On behalf of the Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee, the TAC has drafted materials for this project and is requesting stakeholder feedback.

 

The revised materials include updates to four Qualifications, five Skill Sets and 40 Units of Competency. These draft products address changes in technology and Defence processes, including providing an aligned career pathway for Defence and integrated logistics support personnel to enhance workforce mobility across the sector.

 

One qualification, four Skill Sets and 12 Units of Competency have been proposed to be superseded by existing material to reduce duplication.

 

Feedback closed Friday, 6 May 2022.

 

Feedback will be collated and discussed at the next TAC meeting.

FINAL DRAFT CASE FOR ENDORSEMENT 

 

The draft Training Package materials have undergone independent edit and quality assurance and have been updated to address changes in technology and Defence processes and provide an aligned career pathway for Defence and logistics support personnel to enhance workforce mobility across the sector. 

 

The Case for Endorsement is scheduled to be submitted to the AISC in August 2022

On behalf of the Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee (IRC), its Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has considered all stakeholder feedback and is now seeking validation of revised draft Training Package materials.

 

The revised materials include updates to four qualifications, five Skill Sets and 31 Units of Competency. These draft products address changes in technology and Defence processes and provide an aligned career pathway for Defence and logistics support personnel to enhance workforce mobility across the sector.

 

One qualification and 21 Units of Competency have been proposed to be superseded to reduce duplication or deleted due to low enrolments.

 

Feedback closed Wednesday 22 June.

 

Feedback will be collated and discussed at the next TAC meeting.

The Transport and Logistics Training Package (Release 14.0) has been endorsed by the Skills Ministers for implementation.  

 

The Transport and Logistics Industry Reference Committee has led the review and update of four Qualifications, five Skill Sets and 31 Units of Competency related to Materiel and Deployment Logistics.

 

The revised materials address changes in technology and Defence processes and provide an aligned career pathway for Defence and logistics support personnel to enhance workforce mobility across the sector.

 

Material and deployment logistics are critical roles in the Defence sector to ensure safe and efficient management of material and Defence personnel during logistics operations. The industry is experiencing changes that require skills development to address new technologies and work practices and ensure safety of Defence personnel.

 

One Qualification, four Skill Sets and 21 Units of Competency have been superseded to reduce duplication or deleted due to low enrolments.

 

To support the delivery of the Training Package, a Companion Volume Implementation Guide (CVIG) has been developed to assist assessors, trainers, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and enterprises. The CVIG contains a comprehensive list of all products in the Training Package; mapping information which details the changes that have been made to the materials; regulation and licensing implications; and useful links to other information.

 

The endorsed TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package Release (14.0) is now available on training.gov.au
