Australian Apprentices Learning to be Leaders

Group Training apprentices and trainees have visited Canberra as part of a career and leadership program that will help equip them as future leaders. The Today’s Skills: Tomorrow’s Leaders (TSTL) program, organised by Group Training Australia, brought together 16 outstanding apprentices and trainees, selected from some 25,000 group training apprentices and trainees across Australia.

All are regarded as emerging leaders in their fields. They include apprentices in electrical, construction, horticulture, plumbing, hospitality, carpentry, power generation, and voice and data communication industries. The TSTL program is now in its 13th year.

The group met with Governor-General, Sir Peter Cosgrove, at Government House, spent a day at Parliament House where they met with MPs to discuss their responsibilities, achievements and leadership motivations, as well as exchanging views with elite athletes and attending a session on career development and leadership training at the Australian Institute of Sport.
