UEE Battery Storage Systems Project

Overview

Working with the Electrotechnology IRC and industry stakeholders, this project will be responsible for the development of two new Units of Competency for the design, installation & maintenance of battery storage systems for grid connected photovoltaic systems:

  • Install, maintain and fault find battery storage systems for grid-connected photovoltaic
  • Design battery storage systems for grid-connected photovoltaic systems

This project has been approved by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) and is expected to be submitted for endorsement by 13 March 2017.

There will be regular project updates on this page throughout the life of the project.

At their 11th of April 2017 meeting, the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) considered and approved the UEE Electrotechnology Case for Endorsement submission for Training Package implementation.

The following units are now available on training.gov.au:

On behalf of the Electrotechnology Industry Reference Committee (IRC), Australian Industry Standards have submitted the two draft Battery Storage units of competency to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) for consideration.

The two new draft Battery Storage units of competency have now been signed off by the Technical Advisory Committee and been supported by the Electrotechnology IRC.

Following an independent Edit and Quality Assurance process, the new Electrotechnology Training Package products are now available for viewing, prior to being submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) for consideration.

The Technical Advisory Committee for the Battery Storage Systems project reviewed all feedback received on the two draft units of competency following the public comment process.

The draft units were updated accordingly. An update on the project was to be presented at the IRC’s next meeting.

22 September 2016

The Technical Advisory Committee for the Battery Storage Systems project met on Thursday 22nd September to review all feedback received on the two draft units of competency following the public comment process.

All comments were reviewed and considered by the committee and as a result the two draft units were updated accordingly. The TAC determined that the two updated draft units should be sent out for a second round of public consultation.

On Thursday 11th August, 2016 the Battery Storage Systems Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) met to provide feedback on the two draft units of competency for battery storage systems.

The draft units were discussed at the meeting by the TAC in the new template and content was mapped across to new sections in the document to ensure compliance with the 2012 Standards for Training Packages.

The key decisions from this meeting included the following:

  • Agreement to send the two draft units out for public consultation and feedback
  • Public consultation period to last three weeks
  • Agreement by the TAC to meet following the consultation period to review all feedback
