23 August 2017
The Electrical TAC met on 19 July 2017 to progress the transition of the Certificate II Electrotechnology (Career Start) and Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician qualifications and their units to the Standards for Training Packages 2012.
The drafts are now made available for public consultation and feedback from 24 August to COB 7 September. (Links removed 8 September 2017).
After completing this work, the TAC proposed that 43 of the 113 transitioned units need to be reviewed. These units are considered critical to the qualifications, and need to undergo a comprehensive review to ensure they meet industry needs. The IRC has endorsed this proposal and a detailed Case for Change will be made available for public consultation before being submitted to the AISC for approval. If approved, a project will commence to review the units.
Please note that the final Case for Endorsement for the qualifications and units will not be submitted until the 43 units have been reviewed.

The Electrical Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has been finalised and will begin working on the transition of Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) and Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, including the associated 113 units of competency to the Standards for Training Packages 2012.
Please note: The scope of this project does not include a full review of the listed units but simply transition to the Standards for Training Packages 2012.
The Electrical TAC will review and provide feedback on the 113 updated draft units and two qualifications over the next 3 weeks. It was agreed that the updated draft Training Package products (track changes included) will be made available to the wider stakeholder community at the same time, to allow for feedback from industry.
At the end of the consultation period all feedback received from Stakeholders along with the Electrical TAC member’s feedback will be reviewed and considered at the next TAC meeting which is scheduled for Friday, 16 June 2017.
Please provide your feedback by COB Tuesday 13 June, 2017.
This feedback period has closed. If you have any questions about this project, please contact Industry Manager, Jason Lazar: firstname.lastname@example.org or 0417 903 566
PLEASE NOTE – The current endorsed units are accessible via the TGA website if you wish to do a direct comparison with the updated drafts.
