Finalisation

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning TAC has finalised the draft Training Package materials for this sub project.

The draft materials will undergo an independent edit and quality assurance review. Final drafts will be available for viewing after the finalisation of all sub-projects, including the review of 43 critical Units of Competency. This additional work, which was approved by the AISC, started on 30 January 2018. For details see the UEE Electrical TAC.

DRAFT MATERIAL AVAILABLE FOR FEEDBACK

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning TAC met on Thursday, 18 January 2018 and agreed to send draft qualifications and Units of Competency out for public consultation.

Links to draft material were removed on 1 March 2018.

Please submit your feedback by Wednesday, 21 February 2018.  The feedback period has now been extended to COB Wednesday, 28 February 2018. Feedback period has now closed.

The Electrotechnology IRC met on Thursday, 2 November 2017 and was provided with an update on the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Case for Change to review the Cert III & Cert IV Refrigeration and Air conditioning qualifications. The IRC reviewed all feedback from public consultations and it was agreed that further industry consultation is required before the Case for Change can progress. At the direction of the IRC, Australian Industry Standards (AIS) will facilitate further industry consultation. Relevant details will be provided early 2018.

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) will commence the transition of all Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Qualifications and relevant Units of Competency to the Standards for Training Packages 2012. Please see the list of Qualifications below:

15 SEPTEMBER 2017

The Electrotechnology Industry Reference Committee (IRC) is currently undertaking the next stage of the UEE11 Electrotechnology Training Package Transition Project.

The Refrigeration and Air conditioning Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is being established to validate the relevant Training Package products for the Electrotechnology industry.

The initial project for the Refrigeration and Air conditioning TAC will be to transition the following Training Package product to the Standards for Training Packages 2012:

  • Certificate II in Split Air-conditioning and Heat Pump Systems

If you would like to participate as a Refrigeration and Air conditioning TAC member or have any questions about this project, please contact Industry Manager Jason Lazar on 0417 903 566 or via email jason.lazar@australianindustrystandards.org.au by COB Wednesday, 4 October 2017. 

It is intended that this project will commence late October 2017 and is scheduled to be completed by early 2018.

The Electrotechnology IRC has drafted a Case for Change for the development of a Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and a Certificate IV in Advanced Refrigeration and Air Conditioning to meet the current and future skill needs of the industry.
