UEG11 Gas Industry Training Package Transition Project

Overview

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) has commissioned the transition of all UEG11 Gas Industry Training Package components to the Standards for Training Packages 2012. The Gas Industry Reference Committee (IRC) will have oversight of this project which will be facilitated by Australian Industry Standards in consultation with industry stakeholders. The project covers the transition of five qualifications, six Skill Sets and 109 Units of Competency.

PROJECT UPDATES

ENDORSEMENT 

31 AUGUST 2018 

The AISC has approved the Case for Endorsement for Training Package implementation. 

Case For Endorsement

The approved UEG Gas Industry Training Package Release 1.0 is now available on training.gov.au. 

The full training package was approved including a new Unit of Competency: 

  • UEGNSG200 Conduct butt fusion of large diameter polyethylene gas pipeline systems. 

Final Draft Case for Endorsement

19 June 2018

The Case for Endorsement has been amended following stakeholder feedback. A separate mapping documented has been developed to highlight draft changes to the Training Package, including additions and omissions.

Included in this Case for Endorsement is the newly developed Unit of Competency for Butt Fusion Systems.

Final drafts are scheduled to be submitted to the AISC in July.

Finalisation

On Friday, 22 September 2017, the Gas Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) met to review the feedback received from committee members. The Gas TAC agreed to send all 109 Units of Competency, Skill Sets, and relevant Qualifications out for public consultation.

On Thursday, 3 August 2017, the UEG11 Gas Industry Training Package Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) met and commenced the transition of 109 Units of Competency to the Standards for Training Packages 2012.

The next TAC meeting has been proposed for Friday, 22 September 2017.

Working with the Gas Industry Reference Committee (IRC) and industry stakeholders, this project will commence with the transition of five qualifications and 109 associated units of competency to the Standards for Training Packages 2012. The qualifications include:

UEG20114 Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations

UEG30114 Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry Operations

UEG40114 Certificate IV in Gas Supply Industry Operations

UEG50114 Diploma of Gas Supply Industry Operations

UEG60114 Advanced Diploma of Gas Supply Industry Operations

The project is expected to be completed by December 2017.

A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) responsible for this project will be formed in the coming weeks.

Following the initial meeting the Gas IRC on Thursday, 9 March 2017, priority activities for the transition of all UEG11 Gas Industry Training Package products were agreed. The IRC is currently working on the finalisation of the transition project plan, including the establishment of Technical Advisory Committees.

Transitioning to the Standards for Training Packages 2012

All Training Packages are required to comply with the Standards for Training Packages 2012. The Standards apply to the design and development of Training Packages for endorsement consideration by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee.

The Standards for Training Packages 2012 are available at the Department of Education and Training website.
