Correctional Services Industry Reference Committee (IRC)
The Correctional Services IRC is made up of industry leaders and experts and acts as a conduit between the Correctional Services industry and the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC).
The Correctional Services industry plays a significant role in providing a safe and secure environment for our Australian society. The Correctional Services IRC are responsible for ensuring the CSC Correctional Services Training Package meets the needs of the industry and provides nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification for occupations involved in:
- Justice Services
- Correctional Practices
- Immigration Detention
At Certificate III, IV and Diploma levels specialisations can be undertaken in:
- Adult and Youth Community and Custodial
- Dog Handling, Supervision, Case Management and Emergency Response
- Intelligence Operations
- Immigration Detention Operations

Ian Tindale
Correctional Services Industry Reference Committee Chair
Ian Tindale has a long history in vocational training in the private and government sectors. Following holding operational leadership and senior management roles in learning and development in the justice space, he is currently the Senior Director of Organisational Capability, Australian Capital Territory Corrective Services. A member of the Correctional Services IRC since 2018, Ian continues to be a passionate trainer and advocate for the learner centric model of training and education over the traditional trainer centric.
Ian remains a lifelong learner in the VET sector having completed several advanced VET qualifications in Training, Business, Management, Safety and Risk.
