The technology stretches across many sectors including mining, manufacturing, communications, construction, renewables, domestic, commercial, and industrial refrigeration and air-conditioning. The Electrical Services industry (a subsector within Electrotechnology) involves electrical wiring or fittings in buildings and other construction projects, and repair and maintenance of existing electrical equipment and fixtures.

Electrotechnology IRC Chair Larry Moore:

“In the next 10 years our industry will change significantly, going from electrical control to internet control through the Internet of Things and connectivity and all those new areas that are coming into play.

An interesting career path in our industry is going from a trade, right through to an Engineering degree, which many in industry believe often become the best engineers at the end of the day.”
