The Industry Reference Committee (IRC) Skills Forecasts are produced annually to report on the industry outlook, new and emerging skills and associated training needs for each sector. They are a culmination of an extensive consultation and review process, led by each IRC.

Public Safety Industry

Australia’s Public Safety industry is highly diverse, and comprises police, fire and rescue services, maritime rescue, emergency services and emergency management agencies, Defence, administrative and support functions.

 

Public safety IRC chair Mark Burgess:

The Public Safety industry employs nearly 178,000 people in full-time jobs, 19,850 people in standby/reserve positions, and approximately 230,000 volunteers.
