Australian Industry Standards recently hosted a visit by a Korean delegation studying Australia’s vocational education and training system. The delegates were particularly interested in the recent changes to the Australian VET system and the enhanced role of industry in leading the development of workforce skills through nationally recognised qualifications.
The delegates were also provided with an overview of the successful international projects AIS have facilitated in developing occupational skill standards in the Logistics Sector (China, Vietnam, The Philippines & Indonesia) and Port Sector (India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia).
The visit by the Korean delegation follows a Vocational Education and Training (VET) conference, hosted by the Australian Government and the Organisation for Economic Development (OECD), in Adelaide. Korean and AIS representatives joined 120 Australian and international delegates from industry, government and VET, who shared their insights on engaging employers in the development of work-based skills and learning.
Following their visit to AIS, the visitors, who were impressed by the Australian VET system, said they would share their key learnings with colleagues in Korea to consider potential application.
