Maritime Business Case

This Business Case developed by the Maritime IRC, is focused on, but is not limited to, setting out the strategic and evidentiary case (including an analysis of the level of industry support) for:

  1. updating relevant units of competency for near coastal qualifications, including safety specific units of competency critical to the attainment of AMSA certification
  2. updating units of competency for qualifications that cover the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention).

We are seeking your input to ensure that the business case provides enough detail regarding the proposed review of the MAR Maritime Training Package (Release 4.0).

The Business Case is in response to an Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) initiative to streamline certification processes for domestic and international certification in order to reduce the regulatory burden for seafarers.
