New IRC Chairs elected

AIS welcomes the election of new Chairs for the Water and Rail Industry Reference Committees.

George Wall, Managing Director at Water Industry Operators Association of Australia (WIOA) is the new Chair of the Water IRC, following the retirement of John Harris.

George has been involved in the water industry in a variety of roles since 1989.

He is passionate about the water industry and the important role that its operational people play in our society in the protection of public health and the environment.

Having experienced the water industry as an operator and in management roles, George has an excellent understanding of operational issues from both perspectives. He has been a very strong advocate for the training and ongoing professional development of operational staff and has been instrumental in the establishment and implementation of an operator certification scheme. George has also participated in a number of Technical Advisory Committees in the review and development of the Water Training Package.

Robert Allan from ICON Water has been elected as the Deputy Chair of the IRC.

Carol Hedrick, RTO Team Leader at Queensland Rail, has been elected as the new Chair of the Rail Industry Reference Committee. Carol has been in the rail industry for 15 years. She is responsible for the compliance team at QR’s registered training organisation, which has 10 Rail industry qualifications on its scope and over 200 trainers and assessors. She replaces Victoria Kent from Rio Tinto who has finished her 2-year term as Rail IRC Chair and will now occupy the role of Deputy Chair.
