The NSW Government has announced it will conduct a broad review into the VET system to support the State’s economic growth. The review will assess if the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001 meet the requirements of industry and align with the Government’s efforts to ensure the NSW workforce can meet the current and upcoming economic and sectoral challenges.
The Review will examine whether change is needed to improve the level of completion of apprenticeship and traineeship qualifications, particularly in key sectors such as construction, health and disability care, and science and technology-based industries.
The Government has released a consultation paper to encourage stakeholder involvement in this important Review. Public meetings will be held in coming weeks in metropolitan and regional areas to seek advice from interested people on how the apprenticeship system needs to change to meet current and emerging skill needs of industry and the State.
Submissions are invited from stakeholders in industry and the VET sector to firstname.lastname@example.org by close of business on 19th September 2016.
