MAR Autonomous Maritime Systems
The purpose of this project is to develop new Training Package materials related to Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS), Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) and Underwater Surface Vessels (USV),
The Maritime IRC has identified that the Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS) market is experiencing a period of high growth due to the increased uptake and application of new technology by industry.
Eight new Units of Competency and three new Skill Sets, will be developed to enable a national and standardised approach to training for the following emerging job roles:
- AUV and USV Operators
- AUV Assistant Operators
- AUV and USV Technicians, and
- Existing job roles in the maritime industry that require skills and knowledge in Autonomous Marine Systems (AMS).
The Maritime Industry Reference Committee (IRC) will have oversight of this project, which will be facilitated by Australian Industry Standards (AIS) in consultation with industry stakeholders. A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) will be formed for this project.
