Electro-Technical Officer Draft Units Available
The Electro-Technical Officer TAC has finalised four draft Units of Competency for this part of the project and would like your feedback.

Industry subject matter experts needed
The Maritime IRC is currently forming Technical Advisory Committees for the MAR Blue Water Phase 3.
Your industry expertise and insight is required to help develop and review the qualifications and associated materials for this project.
The following four Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) will be formed:
- Electro-Technical Officers
- Skill Sets (Regulatory)
- Engineering Operations
- Deck Operations
To register your interest in becoming a TAC member, or if you have any questions about this project, please contact the Industry Manager, Klausch Schmidt by close of business Friday, 22 June 2018.
NATIONAL MARITIME CONSULTATION FORUMS
There is the opportunity to provide input into this project via the National Maritime Consultation Forums which will take place across Australia from 26 June – 13 July 2018.

CASE FOR CHANGE CONSULTATION
The Maritime Industry Reference Committee (IRC) has developed a Case for Change to address current skills gaps experienced by industry and the difficulties associated with training new entrants to the marine survey sector of the maritime industry. The IRC has proposed the development of an Advanced Diploma of Maritime Operations (Marine Surveying).
The proposed work includes the development of the following Training Package materials:
- One new qualification
- 15 new units of competency
The Maritime IRC is seeking public feedback on this proposed Training Package work until close of business on Friday, 20 April 2018. Feedback has now closed.

Case for Change Consultation
The Maritime Industry Reference Committee (IRC) has developed a Case for Change to address regulatory reforms concerning polar waters, Seafarers and roll on/roll off freight.
The proposed work includes the development of the following Training Package materials:
- Two new Skill Sets to align Able Seafarer Deck and Able Seafarer Engineer to AMSA certification requirements
- One new Skill Set consisting of two new Units of Competency to address the skill needs of individuals working on Roll on/Roll off vessels
- One new Skill Set consisting of two new Units of Competency that align with STCW Table A-V/4-1 and 2 (Polar Waters) which will become a mandatory regulatory requirement from July 2018.
The Maritime IRC is seeking public feedback on this proposed Training Package work.

Case for Change Consultation
A Case for Change has been developed by the Maritime Industry Reference Committee (IRC). This proposed work focuses on addressing Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) regulatory requirements for Electro-Technical Officers (ETOs).
There is currently no training pathway available for the ETOs in the Maritime workforce to gain AMSA certification. This Case for Change proposes the development and review of the following Training Package materials:
- A new qualification for ETOs
- Five new Units of Competency
- Review of 34 Units of Competency
The Maritime IRC is seeking public feedback on this proposed Training Package work.
