Background

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) has commissioned the review of the MAR Maritime Training Package. The project includes the review of Integrated Rating and Near Coastal qualifications to incorporate the Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s (AMSA) certification requirements and strengthen assessment requirements.

The qualifications being reviewed in this project include:

Near Coastal

  • MAR50713 Diploma of Maritime Operations (Master up to 80 meters Near Coastal)
  • MAR10318 Certificate I in Maritime Operations (General Purpose Hand Near Coastal)
  • MAR40618 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 35 metres Near Coastal)

Blue Waters

  • MAR60315 Advanced Diploma of Maritime Operations (Master Unlimited)
  • MAR50315 Diploma of Maritime Operations (Watchkeeper Deck)
  • MAR50415 Diploma of Maritime Operations (Master up to 500 GT)
  • MAR40218 Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Chief Integrated Rating)
  • MAR30218 Certificate III in Maritime Operations (Integrated Rating)

The expected submission of the Case for Endorsement will be submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) by 31 March 2020.

The Maritime Industry Reference Committee (IRC) will have oversight of this project, which will be facilitated by Australian Industry Standards (AIS) in consultation with industry stakeholders. A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) will be formed.
