NWP National Water Training Package Project

Overview

Following the submission and approval of the Business Case for the Review and Development of the NWP National Water Training Package, the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) has commissioned the following project.

The Water Industry Reference Committee (IRC) will have oversight of this project which will be facilitated by Australian Industry Standards in consultation with industry stakeholders. The project covers the review and development of the NWP50715 Diploma Water Industry Operations Qualification including 25 associated Units of Competency.

Endorsement

The AISC has approved the Case for Endorsement for Training Package implementation.

FINAL DRAFT CASE FOR ENDORSEMENT

The draft Training Package materials have undergone independent edit and quality assurance, and are now available for viewing.

Final drafts are scheduled to be submitted to the AISC late October 2018.

DRAFTING FINALISED 

The TAC has completed development work on the draft materials, which will now go through an independent edit and quality assurance review. 

The project is expected to be submitted to the AISC for approval in October 2018 and final drafts will be made available then.

Draft Material Available

The Hydrographic Surveyor TAC involved in the National Water Training Package Project has finalised draft materials and would like your feedback.

Please submit your feedback by close of business by Friday, 10 August. Feedback has now closed.

Feedback will be collated and discussed at the next TAC meeting.

New Hydrographic Surveying Occupational Stream

Review of the NWP50715 Diploma of Water Industry Operations is in progress, and a new occupational stream for Hydrographic Surveying is to be incorporated into this qualification.

To accommodate the consultation and development required for these additional units, the current NWP National Water Training Package project has been extended until 30 October 2018.

The Water Industry Reference Committee (IRC) will have oversight of this project, which will be facilitated by Australian Industry Standards in consultation with industry stakeholders.

Consultation on draft materials

The National Water Training Package Project Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) met on Tuesday, 17 October 2017 to review feedback received from committee members, and agreed to send draft qualification and Units of Competency out for public consultation.

TAC Meeting

On Monday, 17 July 2017, the National Water Training Package Technical Advisory Committee met and commenced the review of the Diploma of Water Industry Operations.

The key actions of this meeting included the following:

  • Review of the current qualification
  • Review of the units of competency, contained in the qualification
  • Identify additional units of competency that could enhance this qualification to meet Industry requirements

TAC Formation

The Water Industry Reference Committee (IRC) in coordination with Australian Industry Standards (AIS) is commencing the review and development of the NWP50715 Diploma Water Industry Operations qualification including 25 associated Units of Competency.

The project is expected to be completed by March 2018.

A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) responsible for this project will be formed in the coming weeks.
