POL Advanced Police Investigation

Overview

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) has commissioned a project to develop a new qualification for the POL Police Training Package. The project will formalise and improve the capabilities of Advanced Police Investigation Practitioners.

The project will include:

  • 1 new qualification
  • 5 revised Units of Competency
  • 1 deleted Skill Set (to be transitioned to the new qualification)

The Public Safety Industry Reference Committee (IRC) will have oversight of this project, which will be facilitated by Australian Industry Standards (AIS) in consultation with industry stakeholders.

Final draft case for endorsement

The draft Training Package materials have undergone independent edit and quality assurance, and are now available for viewing.

Case for Endorsement Companion Volume Implemention Guide Qualification Units of Competency

Final drafts are scheduled to be submitted to the AISC in March 2019.

DRAFTING FINALISED

The TAC has completed development work on the draft materials, which will now go through an independent edit and quality assurance review.

The project is expected to be submitted to the AISC for approval in March 2019 and final drafts will be made available then.

Draft POL Police Training Package materials for this project have been finalised and are available for your feedback.

Feedback will be collated and discussed at the next project meeting.

PROJECT COMMENCEMENT

The IRC, in conjunction with AIS, is currently working with the Australian New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) to develop the new Qualification for inclusion into the next release of the POL Police Training Package. The project is expected to be completed by March 2019.

As this material is sensitive in nature, initial requests for access to draft POL Police Training Package products is by written application only via email to Industry Manager Greg Spence.

Case for Change

The Department of Education and Training have initiated the development of a Case for Change for the POL Police Training Package relating to investigation skills.

AIS and the Public Safety IRC along with industry stakeholders will work together in drafting Case for Change.

Further information will be provided in the coming months.
