This project is to transition the UEE11 Training Package qualifications, Units of Competency and Skill Sets to the 2012 Standards for Training Packages.

Timeline

The Case for Endorsement is expected to be submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee by 18 May 2020.

How to get involved

A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) will be formed to provide expertise for this work. If you are a subject matter expert and would like to be considered for the TAC please contact the Industry Manager.

Stakeholder feedback on draft training materials will be sought as part of the development phase of work.

Work on this project has commenced and the Electrotechnology Industry Reference Committee is forming a Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).

Your industry expertise and insight are welcome to help develop Skill Sets and Units of Competency.

Summary of development

Draft units, skill sets and/or qualifications are developed in consultation with Subject Matter Experts and industry stakeholders.

Initial drafting of Training Package material (Units of Competency, Skill Sets and/or qualifications) is being undertaken by a Technical Advisory Committee established by the IRC. Comprising people with diverse expertise and experience in Electrotechnology, it has ensured that the draft Units are informed by the needs of industry.

To facilitate the collection of feedback, the draft training package materials will be released in phases. This phase includes only Units of Competency from the below TACs. Additional Units of Competency, qualifications and/or Skill Sets will be released in the coming weeks.

DRAFT MATERIAL

The TAC have prepared draft materials for this project and would like your feedback.

This round of consultation includes elective units from the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, Certificate III in Electrical Fitting and Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) qualifications. There are no core units included in this round of consultation as they are currently being drafted to ensure they align to industry needs.

Before reviewing the Electrical units, please download and read the Important Information, which details the splitting and joining of current units, a new unit being developed to cover EPC55 licencing requirements, the use of imported units and the remaining electrical products to be released for consultation.

The IRC directed the Electrotechnology Training Package be submitted for endorsement in two releases as shown in the following table:

DRAFT MATERIAL – RELEASE 3.0

The Electrotechnology Industry Reference Committee has finalised the remaining Electrotechnology Training Package (Release 3.0) draft materials for this project and would like your feedback.

Please note this public consultation only includes four Units of Competency as the remaining 122 units have already undergone public consultation.

Feedback closed on Monday, 17 February 2020.

Feedback will be collated and discussed at the next TAC meeting.

RELEASE 2.0 CASE FOR ENDORSEMENT SUBMITTED TO AISC

The draft Training Package materials for Release 2.0 have been submitted to the AISC.

Release 3.0 is on track to be finalised and submitted in April 2020.

AISC OUTCOME ON THE ELECTROTECHNOLOGY TRAINING PACKAGE

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) considered the Electrotechnology Training Package Release 2.0 Case for Endorsement at its meeting 25 February, 2020.

The AISC has asked for further information from the IRC and directed it to lodge a single submission, incorporating all revised training products as per the table below, for consideration at the meeting of the AISC on 16 June, 2020.

In order to meet this deadline the draft Case for Endorsement will shortly be circulated to all State Training Authorities for consultation and feedback for a period of 3 weeks. At the same time, all draft products will be available on the AIS website for viewing. At the end of the consultation period all STA feedback will be submitted to the IRC for review, before an IRC approved Case for Endorsement is submitted to the AISC.

The draft Training Package materials have undergone independent edit and quality assurance.

The Case for Endorsement is scheduled to be submitted to the AISC in June.

APPROVAL

18 AUGUST 2020

The AISC has approved the Electrotechnology Training Package (Release 2.0) for referral to the Skills Ministers for endorsement at the 12 August 2020 meeting.

 

ENDORSEMENT

6 October 2020

The Electrotechnology Training Package (Release 2.0) has been endorsed for implementation.

 

The approved UEE Electrotechnology Training Package Release 2.0 is now available on training.gov.au.

 

This release of the Training Package incorporates the below projects:

  • Electrical
  • Electrical Engineering and Industrial Control
  • Electronics and Computers
  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
  • Handling of A2 Refrigerants

This release includes:

  • 79 Qualifications
  • 50 Skill Sets
  • 530 Units of Competency
